Initiated as part of Author Kris Spisak’s virtual book tour for her third book, The Family Story Workbook, and now continued in multiple formats, including events with an emphasis on Ukrainian stories after the publication of Kris’s debut novel, The Baba Yaga Mask.

“Story Stop Tour” events take on two formats:
  • In-person or virtual programs with multiple panelists taking the spotlight, sharing the stories that shaped them, artistic or cultural traditions they value, as well as memories from their own lives. Discussions include topics such as how storytelling shapes people and societies, the value of listening to understand the world, and how personal missions can arise from singular experiences
  • In-person or virtual creative workshops, with attendees guided through memory prompts and creative techniques for preserving one’s own stories in more powerful ways than ever before, whether for memoir or fiction. Workshops have also been designed for family groups.

In partnership with indie bookstores, writing organizations, historical societies, and community groups, Story Stop Tour events can spark profound community conversations and treasured personal histories.

Preserving our tales for the historical record can mean many things. What does it mean to you?
